BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Bruins evened their playoff series with a 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings in the Game 2 yesterday. Justin Florek and Reilly Smith scored in a three-minute span in the first period. The Bruins had 18 shots in the first period after managing just 25 in the entire opener.

DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Tigers took advantage of four Los Angeles errors in a 2-1 victory over the Angels yesterday. Rick Porcello allowed a run and five hits. Joe Nathan pitching the ninth for his third save in five chances. Hector Santiago allowed two unearned runs and two hits in 5 2-3 innings.

DETROIT (AP) - The Los Angeles Angels made three errors on one play in the first inning of their game against the Detroit Tigers yesterday. Ian Kinsler was on first and began running on a 3-2 pitch to Miguel Cabrera. Catcher Hank Conger threw to second and the ball sailed into center field. It looked as if the Angels would have a play on Kinsler as he went home. Pitcher Hector Santiago picked up the ball near the mound and threw wildly to the plate. Kinsler scored.

DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Tigers have released opening day shortstop Alex Gonzalez and purchased the contract of infielder Danny Worth from Triple-A Toledo. Detroit has struggled to fill the hole at shortstop after letting Jhonny Peralta leave via free agency and losing Jose Iglesias to injury. The Tigers traded for both Gonzalez and Andrew Romine in late March.
