The New York Knicks are bringing a development team to White Plains, N.Y. It will be the city's first pro sports team. Part of the NBA's D-League (a kind of minor league, if you will), the team will play at the Westchester County Center. Carmen Berra, wife of New York Yankees great Yogi Berra, has died. She was 85.The Yankees confirmed that she died Thursday night in New Jersey's Essex County. The team didn't say how she died. The couple was married in January 1949 and had recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.Berra, a catcher, was a 10-time World Series champion with the Yankees and later served as the team's manager.
Being retired hasn't stopped Mariano Rivera from picking up one more save. A crumbling and long-vacant church on Thursday became the new home of a ministry led by the wife of the New York Yankees legend, following a $3 million restoration project funded by his foundation. This year's Boston Marathon will have a "no bags" policy as part of stepped-up security following last year's deadly bombing. The Boston Athletic Association announced the policy changes Wednesday in advance of the April 21 marathon. Runners will not be allowed to bring bags. Bags will also not be allowed in certain areas near the start or finish line or along the course. More>>
