    Growing, snapping, picking, sorting, and a little time for laughs in between take place at Homecoming Farm in Amityville, New York. The real mission is to feed the tristate area's hungry. The farm-to-table approach has been in homecoming farm's DNA since 1875 when a group of Dominican sisters from Germany immigrated into Brooklyn and then founded the farm.

    In 2011, Marine Corps Cpl. Kevin Vaughan lost his left leg in an IED explosion while riding in a truck through the Marjah region of Afghanistan. Three years later, in the town of Hempstead, Long Island, a high school band, local officials, and Kevin's family gathered to give him a house and a flag to fly in his new front yard.

But what if you could fight Mother Nature?Hurricanes are fueled by the heat and energy in warm ocean water.

    Long Island's own Daniel Fletcher is competing this year in powerlifting at the Special Olympics 2014 USA Games New Jersey in June. His parents, Warren and Edna Fletcher, will be there every step of the way as both mom and dad and as coaches. They help coach Daniel and the entire East End Powerlifters.
