Detroit:

It is time to heal.  Within the past three months the City of Detroit has found itself lied to, lied on, betrayed and left in hurt, pain and shame.  The Mayoral scandal has left the city in a leadership crisis and divided.

The Mayor has been charged with 8 felony counts involving conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice, obstruction of justice, misconduct in office and perjury.

The City Council, the news media and several prominent ministers have asked the Mayor to resign.  The Mayor has said to Council Members and the citizens of Detroit that he will not be moved.

In order for this city to heal the Mayor must step down.  In order for the city to heal, the religious and political leaders must be united in this call for the Mayor to step down.
The business community must urge the Mayor to step down.  The community as a whole, those who support the Mayor and those who do not must unite and call for the Mayor to step down.  This city cannot afford the distraction of a long legal battle.  We must heal and move forward.

There are local and national issues that are impacting this city that we must begin to focus on.  We are the third highest in the nation for foreclosures, we have the highest insurance rates and the highest job lost.  Our crime rate is high.  Police response time is slow.  Many of our streets are dark and in need of repairs.  We must get back to business.

City leaders are supposed to lead the way, not get in the way.  This roller coaster ride must come to an end now.  Detroit it is time to heal.
