What is a Public Service Announcement?
A public service announcement (PSA) is any announcement for which no charge is made and which promotes programs, activities or services of federal, state or local governments or the programs, activities, or services of non-profit organizations. Includes other announcements regarded as serving community interests.

The determination of what to broadcast as well as the priority given various organizations is determined by station management.

A PSA may be turned down for any reason.

Will WJBK FOX 2 produce a PSA for my organization?
Organizations seeking PSA time should submit proposed copy, fact sheets and proof of non-profit status at least eight weeks prior to when you want your PSA to air. We accept support video (b-roll).

FOX 2 produces its own PSAs, using its own style, logo, format and on-air talent.

No for-profit organizations are included in public service announcements.

When FOX2 is one of many partners (for-profit and non-profit) in an event developed and executed by another organization, we will not include any other partners’ names or logos in our PSAs.

What if I have a PSA already produced?
WJBK FOX 2 runs a limited number of pre-produced spots. The message, campaign, and manner of presentation are reviewed to see whether the spot addresses a need in the community served by the station.

We do not accept VHS tapes. Beta is our preferred tape format. We also accept broadcast quality DVDs. DVDs and tapes are not returned. PSA lengths used include: 60, :30, :20, and :10.

When we use pre-produced spots, we may open or close them with our localizing FOX 2 graphics.

How often will my PSA air?
PSA broadcast times can never be guaranteed. PSA’s do have locked in positions, but priority is given to commercial and promotional announcements.

Since the time allotted for PSAs is flexible, FOX 2 cannot tell you when a given PSA will air.
We do not provide affidavits for PSA schedules or dubs of spots.
