As an avid viewer of Fox 2, I am honored to be asked by Myfoxdetroit.com to join their team of professionals, and look forward to contributing to such a distinguished outlet, and be able to share my experiences and expertise as a makeup artist over the past 2+ decades.

I have seen many trends come and go, and have experienced the industry from all facets, from my beginning days behind the Clinique counter at Hudson’s Oakland Mall, to the “12th floor of the courthouse” with Tom Brokaw during the O.J. Simpson trial, to having lunch with Ethan Hawke at The Four Seasons Chicago during a press junket break, to freezing my butt off at 6am front and center on Woodward Avenue on Thanksgiving during the parade wearing Michelle Stafford’s (Young & The Restless) boots (while she was in her socks!) because my heel got caught in the elevator shaft.

I remember standing in the middle of a cornfield in “I’m-not-sure-where, Michigan” shooting Bob Seger’s album cover, to backstage at Joe Lewis Arena flat ironing Kid Rock’s hair so he could be helicoptered to the Sports Illustrated party during Superbowl XL . And of course, all the wonderful relationships that I have built and memories shared over the years, seeing clients grow up before my eyes; from their first homecoming to their wedding day and everything in between. It’s pretty cool.

Being a makeup artist is a very rewarding career. It never feels like “work.” To be a special part of so many people’s lives – no matter the scale of the event – is priceless. I look forward to sharing some of my life with you.

Barbara Deyo is a 22 year veteran of the beauty industry, being recognized by Allure Magazine as “Best of the Best” for her talents, most recently being named one of the top makeup artists in the country. After her return to Detroit from Los Angeles, Barbara launched Boldface Makeup studio, then expanded to open and co-own Touch Spa – both in Birmingham, MI – gaining many local and national honors. Her work has been published in Redbook, Rolling Stone, People, Seventeen, Ambassador, HOUR, Real Detroit Weekly and many more. She has worked with countless celebrities, such as Roselyn Sanchez, Bob Seger, Kid Rock, Dennis Quaid, Ethan Hawke, and Kerrie Washington. During her many years in television both in LA and Detroit, she worked for NBC, UPN, CBS, FOX, TNT and BET, doing makeup for local and national broadcasts. Her loyal clientele spans the globe, and travel to her whenever possible, just to have their eyebrows done!
