As it is the first day of Summer, time to celebrate the season with family and friends. Entertaining during the season is fun, memorable and always a great time. Whether you are entertaining at home or a local park, summer picnics and bbq’s are always a great way to spend time with those you enjoy being with.

From the invitation to the details of the party, I am going to offer some great tip’s in putting together the “must have’s” for an enjoyable event.

Invitation – Who doesn’t like getting an invitation in the mail? Most importantly, pick a theme to present in the invite. This will create some fun for guests and it will offer a good direction for you as the host. This year, I am seeing a rhythm of host’s asking the guests to join them for a theme party. Whether you choose an era or ask them to dress in a certain color, you will excite your guests in doing something different.

Agenda & Menu – Always have a timeline as to how you want the party to go. Since you are the host, make sure that you have someone to assist you the day of. Once the party starts, you will want to enjoy it as well. From the entrance to the exit, it is all about the details. Start the event with passed hor’s duerves and a signature drink that will have your guests wanting more. Create a food station after the first hour to offer transition and movement, along with a dessert bar afterwards. Be creative with the food and beverage, guests will appreciate the effort.

Entertainment – Live entertainment is always fun and inviting. Hearing the sounds of your favorite music enhances the event. Keep in mind; guests enjoy the music of a live presentation or by having a DJ who can spin the records for you. Once again, having this part of the party taken care of by a professional will allow for you, the host, to enjoy the event too.

Guest Favor – When guests are departing, sending them with a gift will be a surprise, but also unexpected. Be creative with what you are sending them home with. Home baked goods are always appreciated, don’t forget the milk too.

When enjoying friends and family this season, make sure that you offering a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. Having professional server’s assist you in obtaining this and make sure that your guests are taken care of. From the food and beverage, guests mostly appreciate being attended to and taken care of!

Enjoy the Season of Summer, David C. McKnight
