Use Your Garden to Decorate Your Home

With the summer entertaining season upon us, we are all looking for ways to create those memories of backyard bbqs and pool parties at grandmas. But here are a few simple and easy ideas, using items from your own house and garden.

Floral- Fresh cut flowers are a fast and easy way to brighten up any area of your house or patio for those fun parties. However, buying floral from a retail store can be very costly. All you need to do is go out into your own yard and select bright yellow sunflowers, pink and purple varieties of larkspur and delphinium, rose bushes, hydrangeas, and even queen annes lace. These and any other type of flowering bush, or perennial, that you have growing in your yard will work well.

Containers- We all have many common things around the house that can be used. You can take a clean plastic pop bottle and cut into in any shape or size. Theses containers are great for outside or around the pool. Also, you can use any clean glass jar such as old mason jars. A great way to brighten up any of these containers is to use ribbon in fun summer colors like hot pink, yellow, or green. Furthermore, if you’re handy with a glue gun you can add fun embellishments to them. Place them as a runner down the center of your dining table. You can also use them at varying heights to create a more three dimensional look. Don’t be afraid to use some of your knick knacks from around the house to add into your displays. This will create more interest.

Non Floral Center Pieces
– You can fill a bowl with lemons, limes, and oranges with fresh flowers in water tubes tucked in between the fruit. Also, you can take wheat grass in a vase with crepe paper flowers on a stick. Making the flowers with your kids is a fun way to get them involved in the party planning and a great use of their creativity. Another great idea is to hollow out fruits, such as oranges or grapefruits. Then place the flowers in a water tube within the fruit and put them at each place setting.

All you have to do is use your creativity when planning your summer parties and your guests will be taken back to their childhood days of fun relaxing summers... Enjoy your summer and remember that fun and creative parties doesn’t always have to be expensive.
