DETROIT (WJBK) -- It's mystical and commanding approach to the spectacle that is circus sets this show apart. Cirque du Soleil's "Quidam" takes over the Joe giving the audience an experience that can only be found in a Cirque production.

Behind the scenes, "Quidam" is a well oiled, mystical machine with a monitor showing what's on stage, props, a warm up area and makeup for a team of experts that perform at the height of their craft.

"I do the German wheel on the show of Quidam," said Cory Sylvester.

Performing in "Quidam" is a dream come true for the California native. He first saw the German wheel being performed in "Quidam" when he was 19 and he knew right away it was for him.

"I sat there with my dad and I [saw] all of these things happening on the stage ... all these people in these white suits running all over the place chaotically. All of a sudden, I [saw] this big wheel rolling out, and I said to my dad, 'Dad, it starting! It's starting!" Sylvester explained.

After three years of training at circus school in Montreal and a stint as Spider-Man at Universal Studios in Los Angeles, Sylvester is rolling with his dream fueled by the excited faces he sees every performance.

"When I see that face. When I hear somebody saying, 'Man, I want to do what you do when I grow up,' especially if it's a small kid, or if somehow or another if the people are touched to somehow bring out the best in ourselves, then I feel like the job is being done right."

"Quidam" is playing at Joe Louis Arena through the weekend.
