Nearly 300 DPS Security Guards Fired By Mail

DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) - Some Detroit Public School security suards got some unwanted mail on Saturday. They all received a letter saying they're fired!

The letter, dated July 29, said they were being terminated because the district is outsourcing their jobs. Those guards held a meeting Saturday to discuss what to do next. It could include a lawsuit. A call into DPS on Saturday was not immediately returned.

Fox 2's Alexis Wiley spoke with some guards about the surprising turn of events.
