A trip to the supermarket can be costly, especially if you can't tell if your food is still good or if it's time to toss it out. Nutrition experts say $600 in groceries are thrown out annually by the average American family.
FOX's Jaclyn Schultz explains how you might be able to save money at the supermarket in her video report.

Note: Dietitian Stacy Buzan says you still want to double-check food. Even if it's within the safe zone after the expiration date, the rule of thumb is when in doubt, throw it out.
