THE GREAT HALLOWEEN CANDY BUYBACK!
Local Dentists and National City Bank Take a Stand Against Sweets this Halloween
The Staff at Enspire Dental, with National City Bank in Ann Arbor, are redefining the phrase put your money where your mouth is. This Halloween, trick-or-treaters, ages 2-15, can bring their excess candy to Enspire Dental at 3100 W. Liberty and in return, receive $1 per pound of candy donated. All the candy will be shipped to our troops overseas by Operation Gratitude, an organization that coordinates and ships packages to our soldiers. In addition to the cash for candy, children donating their Halloween candy will receive Dr. Fresh Firefly toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and coupons for kids meals courtesy of Red Robin, Max & Ermas and Applebees.
Global sugar consumption increases every year, and can lead to tooth decay, hyperactivity, weight gain and juvenile diabetes. The benefit of this program is that kids can still have the fun of trick-or-treating, and gives them a chance to do something charitable for our soldiers that are risking their lives overseas, says Kendra Hires, organizer of The Candy Buyback at Enspire Dental.
Candy will be collected at Enspire Dental on Sunday, November 1st from 1-3 p.m. The candy must be individually wrapped, unopened, and kids must be accompanied by a parent.
Enspire Dental is located at 3100 W. Liberty, Ann Arbor, and is a leading provider for General Family Dentistry as well as Comprehensive Cosmetic Dentistry. For more information on The Great Halloween Candy Buyback, contact Kendra Hires at 734-663-6777, or visit our website at Enspiredental.com
KARATE FOR CANDY
Local Martial Arts School Willing to Reward Kids For Not Eating All Those Sweets Gathered on Halloween
Because childhood obesity and hyperactivity are two major problems our kids face today a local Martial Arts School is fighting back in hopes to teach kids that a little self-discipline and moderation can really make them strong and healthy. PKSA Karate of Greater Brighton will be offering a Karate for Candy day coming up on Sunday November 1st from 1pm to 5pm.
Kids and their parents can trade in much of the excess candy and receive a Free Karate & Fitness Lesson and a gift certificate good for one week of FREE Karate! The excess candy will then be sent to troops overseas so they can enjoy it.
The key to fighting childhood obesity is moderation and exercise. With this fun event kids can learn the important skill of self-discipline. The truth about too much candy is that beyond childhood obesity it can lead to hyperactivity and tooth decay, so who knows, maybe we can even save parents money in the long run. says Barb & Dennis Kane, owners of PKSA Karate of Greater Brighton.
To participate in the Karate for Candy program just go to PKSA Karate of Greater Brighton located at 709 W. Grand River Ave., Brighton, MI 48116; or call (734) 819-3889 for more information.
