PLEASE NOTE: This report contains references to past H1N1 vaccination clinics. Please check with your local health department for the latest information on upcoming immunization clinics that may be scheduled for your area. There are links to several health departments on the left side of this page under the "Information on H1N1 Vaccination Clinics" section.Big crowds are expected on Saturday, October 24 as metro Detroiters have their first chance at getting vaccinated against the swine flu.

Here's what you need to know if you plan on getting vaccinated:

In Wayne County, the clinic starts at 10:00 a.m. at Hamtramck High School and ends at 4:00 p.m. They will have 2,500 shots available, but not the nasal spray. Their goal is to vaccinate as many people as possible in the six month to 24-year-old high risk group.

There are two clinics in Oakland County -- one at Oakland Community College in Farmington Hills and another at Clarkston Junior High. They will both start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. Each location is ready with 10,000 doses of vaccine and the nasal spray.

No one will be turned away, but both counties are asking that you allow people in the high risk groups to get vaccinated first.  Who is that? Pregnant women, anyone six months to 24 years old, caregivers of anyone younger than six months, adults 25 to 64 with underlying medical conditions and health care and emergency medical services workers.   You can visit www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu for more information.

Kids nine years old and younger will need a booster shot in four weeks.
