SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - A metro Detroit foundation dedicated to battling childhood obesity has a new ally.

Danialle Karmanos' Work It Out Foundation is partnering with Children's Hospital of Michigan to bring its yoga-based program to schools across metro Detroit.

The foundation has already brought the program to twelve area schools, including MacDowell Elementary in Detroit.

"Yoga has very little cost associated with it," said Danialle Karmanos. "They can become ambassadors for the community and take the message back into their homes, to their friends, to their siblings, to their grandparents, and that's what they were doing. So, the kids were becoming through yoga and the program ... ambassadors for healthy living."

By partnering with Children's Hospital of Michigan, Karmanos plans to double the number of schools offering the ten-week Work It Out program.
