The fill-in writer for this position will write copy for our anchors to read during newscasts and special news coverage. The writer will choose video to illustrate news stories, select appropriate sound bites, research facts of news stories using the Internet, our wire services, sources over the telephone, and our archives. Other duties as deemed appropriate to be assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience required. Previous newswriting experience preferred. Ability to write accurate, concise, conversational, and interesting copy to be read by anchors in various newscasts is required. Ability to judge quality and select the best video for newscasts is also required.
Candidate must be able to work various shifts; take direction from producers and executive producers. Good news judgment is an important aspect of this position as is the ability to adapt to the FOX 2 News writing style. May also be required to write for the website, produce a newscast, or work as a fill-in news reporter.
