myFOXDetroit.com Staff - After serving our country overseas, a group of local Marines returned home to Metro Detroit. Family and friends greeted them with a heroes welcome at the Elk Lodge in Ferndale Friday night.
In May of 2009, this same Elks Lodge gave the Marines a send off as they prepared to depart for their tour of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The U.S Marine Colors were raised at the Elks Lodge during that original event a year ago. The flag was returned to US Marine Corp Wing Support Unit 47 during a special ceremony that celebrated their safe return Friday night.
Fox 2's Andrea Isom was there for the happy reunion.
