myFOXDetroit.com Staff - Some unmarried women in the Metro Detroit area are demanding an apology tonight from a Congressional Candidate.
Rocky Raczkowski is running for a seat in the 9th District.
At his fundraiser in Troy over the weekend, Phyllis Schlafly, the founder of a conservative group called Eagle Forum, told the those attending that 75 percent of unmarried women voted for President Barack Obama.
Schlafly said," This is because when you kick your husband out, you gotta have big brother government to be your provider."
A small group of protesters attended a campaign reception in Birmingham on Wednesday night for Raczkowski. They wanted an apology for what they describe as Schlafly's insults.
Raczkowski told Fox 2 News, Schlafly's remarks don't reflect his beliefs. He thinks this was a political move by his opponent Gary Peters.
Fox 2's Taryn Asher has more war of words.
