myFOXDetroit.com Staff - An Ypsilanti man is dead shortly after being zapped with a taser by police. The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department and Michigan State Police are now looking into the incident. They are working to determine the exact cause of death.
The incident happened around 5:15pm Friday evening when officers were called to the 8700 block of Heather in Superior Township. That's where they say they found 31-year old Stanley Jackson Junior who wasn't complying with their orders.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff says Jackson Junior was vocal and active right after being tasered. He was transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital where he later died.
According to the Michigan Department of Corrections website, Jackson Junior had an extensive criminal history which included resisting and obstructing a police officer, possession of cocaine and home invasion.
We're told the officer who tased him is now on administrative leave which is standard procedure.
Fox 2's Alexis Wiley spoke with the victim's neighbors about the deadly incident.
