myFOXDetroit.com Staff - Metro Detroiters came together to raise a record amount of money in the fight against heart disease.
Six hundred people gathered at the MGM Grand in Detroit for the 2012 "Go Red For Women" heart luncheon. It's all to raise awareness and money to fight the number one killer of women.
Yesterday's event alone raised 60-thousand dollars which will go towards research and education programs in Metro Detroit. The money will help advance the American Heart Association's goal of reducing death and disability from heart disease and strokes by 20-percent by the year 2020.
