SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - They help you make a fashion statement. They tell a lot about your style. They can help someone run for vice president. Oh, and they let you see.
Very few people are self-conscious about wearing eyeglasses anymore, says Dr. Barbara Horn, who joins FOX 2 from the Michigan Optometric Association (MOA ). In fact, some have been embracing them by purchasing pairs that fit their fashion style and personality -- even purchasing multiple pairs to match different outfits for different occassions.
Dr. Horn has brought examples of what kinds of glasses are out there and who is wearing what, since eyeglasses have even made it into pop culture.
With the resurrection of Buddy Hollys thick-rimmed frames, these glasses have been spotted on the likes of Johnny Depp, Kanye West and Ashley Olsen. On the other end of the spectrum, Sarah Palin wore rectangular, rimless eyeglasses during the 2008 presidential election and caused an instant fashion frenzy.
The MOA has some suggestions to help you pick out the right pair. Click on the video player to check it out.
