Updog Yoga to Relieve Holiday Stress

myFOXdetroit.com - Shoppers at the Village of Rochester Hills are invited to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season with FREE yoga classes.

Each Saturday in December (except New Year's Eve), UpDog Yoga's Om Squad will offer complimentary on site yoga sessions to anyone who brings in a donation for Pontiac's Baldwin Center, a nonprofit human services agency.

The Om Squad will conduct classes for shoppers 16 and older on December 10, December 17 and December 24 at 10 a.m. (Power Yoga) and 11:30 a.m. (Basic/Beginner Yoga). All classes will take place in the Village of Rochester Hills on Village Main in the storefront between the Gap and The Children's Place. Donations can be dropped off at the class.

No sign up or previous experience are necessary. Loaner yoga mats will be available. "We believe that sharing yoga's sense of calm and community will be a unique added value experience for our shoppers-especially during the busy holiday season when exercise can get squeezed out of the schedule," said Shelleen McHale, director of marketing for the Village of Rochester Hills. "And it's the perfect time of year for us to partner with the Baldwin Center. We have a very generous community who will appreciate the opportunity to give back."

UpDog Yoga's Om Squad© is a traveling Yoga 2 Go© team of certified yoga and meditation instructors who provide yoga outreach, including charitable work, for organizations, corporations, schools, hospitals, shelters and special events in and around Michigan. "We're really excited about this program," said UpDog Yoga Owner Duane Utech. "It's a chance for us to help the Baldwin Center--where the Om Squad also holds free yoga classes weekly for those in need--and hopefully bring a little peace and joy to the community at large during what can be a stressful time of year."

The Baldwin Center's mission is to feed, clothe, educate and empower the men, women and children of the Pontiac community. The nonprofit center is in need of toiletries, canned goods, warm clothes and new, unopened gifts, especially for teenagers. For more information, visit www.baldwincenter.org .

The Village of Rochester Hills is located at the intersection of Adams Road and Walton Boulevard. For more information, visit www.thevorh.com or phone (248) 375-9451.
