Schuler's Lovers' Salad

(WJBK) - Get this recipe courtesy of Hans Schuler and Chef John Stovall from Schuler's Restaurant and Pub.

Ingredients:
1 cup chopped iceberg lettuce
½ cup chopped fresh spinach
½ cup chopped romaine lettuce
1 large hard-boiled egg, chopped
1 ounce crumbled bacon
4 mushroom caps, sliced
2 tablespoons toasted almonds
4 fresh strawberries, sliced
2 ounces Sweet & Sour House Dressing

Serves 2
Preparation:
Don’t get too fixated on the exact quantities for the ingredients in this recipe. Part of the fun is to add extra bacon or strawberries into the recipe if that’s what you like. Start with a mound of lettuce in the middle of two plates (this is a lovers’ salad, after all!) and top with remaining ingredients. Mix together and drizzle with the dressing and serve!

Sweet and Sour House Dressing

Ingredients:
1 cup salad oil
½ cup ketchup
1/3 cup honey
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons finely grated onion
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons salt
Makes 2 ½ cups

Preparation:
Mix all ingredients well and serve at room temperature. If you refrigerate, the honey and salad oil will congeal!
