Actress Drew Barrymore made her directorial debut two years ago with "Whip It," a feature film partially shot in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area about a female roller derby league.

Life is imitiating art, as the Ann Arbor Derby Dimes make their debut as the state's newest women's roller derby league.

A recruitment fair is being held at Ypsilanti's Corner Brewery, located at 720 Norris, Saturday, Nov. 20 from 4 - 6 p.m.

Come out for a meet-and-greet and get information on becoming a skating member, referee or volunteer.

Anyone 18 and older with an interest in roller derby is welcome to attend.
