Doo-Wop Yule Pop combines the genres most memorable hits with the classic standards of the holiday season for a mega memory combination at the Fox Theatre on Friday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
The recent record-breaking PBS-TV music specials, 50 Years of Doo-Wop were so well received that it created a new showcase and new audiences for veteran Doo-Wop artists, resulting in additional PBS TV specials.
Now these 13 original artists, whose combined sales number over 250 million records, are back on the road performing live, treating 50-something concertgoers to the songs they danced to at sock hops, while allowing younger audiences to discover that Doo-Wop is feel-good music.
An impressive list of those original artists will be part of Doo-Wop Yule Pop. Headlining the show are: Charlie Thomas Drifters, Shirley Alston-Reeves, Jay Siegel & The Tokens with their special guest, Jay Traynor, Jimmy Beaumont & The Skyliners, Eugene Pitt & The Jive Five, The Spaniels featuring Willie C. Jackson, Kathy Young, The Edsels, The Volumes, The Reflections, The Blue Suede Orchestra, and Deke & The Blazers.
Tickets are $32.50, $45, $55 and $75, and go on sale Saturday, Oct. 23 at 10:00 a.m., and can be purchased at OlympiaEntertainment.com, the Fox Theatre and Joe Louis Arena box offices, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy (without service charge) at all Ticketmaster locations and Ticketmaster.com.
