Mechanical Heating and Cooling
myFOXdetroit.com - You know it's bad enough to have an outrageous heating bill in the wintertime, but the real kick in the pants comes when your house is unevenly heated and you're not comfortable.
There is a way to be more comfortable and save money at the same time. It starts with a three-stage furnace.
What a three-stage furnace does is it actually splits up the heat a little bit. Most regular furnaces will come on with all the heat at once whether its zero or 40 degrees outside. If the average temperature throughout our heating season is about 30 degrees and your regular furnace comes on with all the heat at once, it only runs for about three or four minutes and then shuts off. This can cause uneven temperatures throughout the house, plus you only get three to four minutes worth of air cleaning and humidity.
A three-stage furnace works in three parts like a barbecue grill. It has a low, a medium and a high burner. When it first comes on, it does so with only about one-third of the heat.
Imagine this. It's about 30 degrees and it only comes on for one-third of the heat, instead of running for four to five minutes it will tend to run for eight to nine minutes. That's eight to nine minutes of greater air circulation, cleaning the air better and more humidity. So, you end up having a much more comfortable home.
It's also 95-percent efficient. You just simply can't find a more efficient furnace. Even though it will run longer, it will do so at lower BTUs, which will save you money.
So, to recap, if you're put in a position where you're going to need to change your furnace, consider getting a multiple stage furnace because it helps develop a more even temperature throughout your home and gives you better air cleaning and humidity. Plus, you'll save a ton of money on your gas bill.
