Marquise is described by others as, "absolutely an outstanding young man." In his previous placement he acted as a mentor to the younger children around him. Marquise is very mature, well spoken and articulate. He is polite, courteous and pleasant. Marquise is known to be very loving and affectionate. He really enjoys music and can skillfully play seven different instruments including the keyboard, xylophone, piano, acoustic guitar, drums, bongos and violin. Marquise desires to learn to play the electric guitar; however, at this time he is only able to practice with his acoustic guitar. He can already read music and creates and records his own beats. Marquise likes playing football, baseball and video games. When he grows up he would like to be a musician, music teacher, graphic game designer and pro baseball player. Religion is important to Marquise, he is of the Christian/Lutheran belief, but he is open to other denominations that follow biblical principles.

Marquise continues to make an effort to learn from his mistakes in the past and states, "I'm not perfect and I've done things I shouldn't have in the past but I am working very hard to perfect those flaws." He is learning how to cope with his emotions and overcoming the losses he has experienced. Marquise is very intelligent but often does not apply himself fully in school. He is learning how to manage positive peer relationships, offer advice to those who seek it and being conscious of others' viewpoints. Marquise's biggest worry about his adoption plan is having to make new friends.

Marquise stated when he thinks of adoption he thinks, "it is a chance at a life I have never experienced." The ideal family for Marquise would be a one or two parent home where he could be the only child in the home. Marquise would benefit from a strong father figure within the family. The adoptive family should be very active as Marquise has expressed that he would like his parents to enjoy playing sports and engaging in activities with him. The family should be very affectionate, loving and supportive. Marquise would benefit from a family that would encourage him to put forth a more consistent effort in school. The family must have patience and understanding that Marquise is a teenager and will have typical teenager behaviors. An adoptive family must also encourage his participation in programs and activities that he enjoys, such as music, sports and graphic design. It is very important that Marquise be allowed to maintain contact with his siblings.
