DETROIT (WJBK) -- It's called the Buick Encore, a small luxury crossover. Buick says it stands alone. There is no other vehicle on the market like it.
It's big brother, the Enclave, seats seven. However, "This vehicle's a five passenger crossover that's now smaller and more efficient and allows people to do all the tasks that they need a crossover to do, but obviously in a small, more efficient, more maneuverable, more nimble package," said Lloyd Biermann with Buick Crossover Marketing.
Buick hopes the Encore will attract young professionals recently out of college and starting their careers, but also people who have teenagers who now drive themselves and want to scale down to a more efficient vehicle.
"We have things like forward collision alert. We have things like a heated steering wheel. We have Bose premium speakers. We have a leather interior that's offered on the vehicle," Biermann explained.
For punctuation, there are jewel headlamps and 18 inch chrome wheels. It's a high end look in a small SUV crossover.
"It gives us another new segment to go into," Biermann said.
