Toyota Shows Off Prius C, NS4 Hybrids at NAIAS 2012

DETROIT (WJBK) -- Toyota is capitalizing on its strength and that's the Prius. One out of every two hybrids sold in the USA is a Prius.

The Prius C is for the young buyer on a budget who has been unable to afford most hybrids.

"At 53 miles per gallon, it will offer the highest city fuel efficiency of any car sold in America without a plug and with a starting price of under $19,000," a Toyota representative said at the North American International Auto Show.

The NS4 is a plug-in hybrid that reveals Toyota's new aerodynamic style change, which you'll see in 2015 on other vehicles, too.

This vehicle, when it hits the road, will be heavy on safety. Some features slated for 2015 are still under development.

"It uses millimeter wave radar and stereo cameras to detect, alert the driver of and automatically help to avoid lane drift departure, pedestrians and other vehicles, even at night," the representative explained.
