SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - Crime Stoppers is branching out and helping Highland Park residents keep their city safe. The city and organization are teaming up to open a satellite office.
A volunteer will staff the site working as a liaison between police and the community. She was inspired to help after a Crime Stoppers' tipster helped solve her brother's murder.
"I'm so passionate about helping families because I know firsthand how it feels to lose a loved one," said Patrice Young. "Anyone who's been victimized by a crime get involved, don't give up because Crime Stoppers can help."
"To anyone that (knows) of a crime that was committed, don't be afraid to call the tip line and get these criminals off the street."
All tips to Crime Stoppers are anonymous. If a tip leads to an arrest, tipsters can receive cash rewards up to $2,500 for unsolved homicides and up to $1,000 for other felonies.
You can call Crime Stoppers anytime at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
