SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - It is a moment Diane Gerald wasn't sure she would ever see.

For the past year, the 54-year-old has been losing her vision. It's quickly deteriorating because of the glaucoma that's destroying her eye nerves and cataracts stealing her sight. Everyone knew if she didn't get help, it would only get worse.

The problem was Diane has no health insurance, so we connected her with the Neighbors in Need program, which helps the uninsured or underinsured.

After two surgeries and two weeks of recovery, we found a very different Diane at the doctor's office. She couldn't believe her own eyes. For the first time, she was actually seeing her grandchild.
