A creative Commerce Township girl has found a way to help the environment and others.
Eleven-year-old Madison Stump is making notebooks from recycled food boxes and selling them. The covers are boxes from crackers, potatoes, cereal and dog biscuits.
Madison has raised $75.00, which she is donating to Hospitality House of Walled Lake.
"I wanted to find something cool to... sell for people to get money to raise for charities, and I thought that notebooks would be a good idea because... they're creative and... it's reducing waste that would go to a landfill," said Madison Stump.
Madison's notebooks are now for sale at Tre's Hallmark in Commerce Township. Every dollar will go to Hospitality House.
Madison also has a Web site where you can purchase one of her notebooks. It's www.paperagain.com .
