SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - The Motor City could soon be running on empty. "We may run out of cash," Mayor Dave Bing said on Thursday.
So, what's the solution? There's talk that Bing could become the new financial manager of Detroit.
"If I'm asked to be a financial manager, emergency manager, I would think about," the mayor said.
No surprise, not everyone is a fan of that idea.
"We do not need an emergency manager. That's the last thing we need. The first thing we need is for the mayor to show some leadership," said City Council President Charles Pugh.
Have you heard about Proposal C? It's a plan to improve the way the City of Detroit is managed.
"Overarching theme -- ethics, vision and better government," said Jenice Mitchell Ford, a Charter Revision Commission member.
However, what looks good on paper some say won't work in real life.
"We could lose control of the water. We could lose control of our pensions, and we can lose control of being able to name the president of the council," said School Board Member Elena Herrada.

Plus, the civil lawsuit involving the death of murdered exotic dancer Tamara Greene has been thrown out.
Joining Huel Perkins and Charlie Langton on our panels to discuss these topics were Pugh, Ford, Vince Keenan from Public.org, Detroit Free Press reporter M.L. Elrick and Carol Teegardin, author of the book "Strawberry."
