FOX 2 got a call Thursday about a litter of ten puppies and their mother taking shelter in the garage of an abandoned home on Detroit's west side.
The Problem Solvers went to work, and now, one day later, the dogs are all safe.
"After you came, within an hour the Humane Society came and rescued the ten puppies," said Kim Thompson, who we spoke with Thursday when the story first aired. "Today they came back to get the mother."
Thompson's daughter lives next door to the abandoned home the dogs were using.
The dogs are a little malnourished and are being stabilized at the Michigan Humane Society.
"We brought the pups back in, and then today we were able to work with Detroit Animal Rescue to bring more resources to the situation," said Detroit Humane Society Chief Investigator Deborah MacDonald. "Between the two agencies, we were able to bring in the mother. They are reunited and very happy about it."
The pups and their mother should be ready for adoption in a few weeks.
"Ten puppies is a large litter," MacDonald said, giving the mother her due credit. "I would say, as a mom, she must have done a really good job to get them where they're at."
