SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - It's probably the last thing anyone is thinking about as we cope with the hot, summer temperatures, but it could be a long, cold winter for thousands of Michigan families who struggle to pay their heating bills.
A ruling by the Michigan Court of Appeals has outlawed a $90-million state assistance fund. It's money that helps low income utility customers pay bills that they would not be able to pay on their own.
Murray Feldman talked about it with Susan Sherer from The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW). Click on the video player above to see their conversation.
It's important to note that THAW has not been outlawed, but rather a state assistance fund that helps THAW has run into trouble.
