BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Police say the body of a missing suburban Detroit boater has been recovered from Lake Erie.
Capt. MaryAnne Ortman of the Monroe County sheriff's department says the body was spotted by fishermen Wednesday in several feet of water near the shore.
Ortman says the body was identified Thursday morning as that of 65-year-old Allan Socall of Plymouth.
Socall and fellow Plymouth resident 68-year-old James Schnurstein were swimming near the Pointe Mouille State Game Area Monday when an anchor gave way and their boat began to drift.
Schnurstein swam to shore but Socall was reported missing.
