USPS Letter Carrier Robbed

DETROIT, Mich. - Police are looking for a suspect who robbed a USPS letter carrier in broad daylight. 

On Thursday, December 31, 2009 at approximately 11:49 a.m. a letter carrier was robbed at gunpoint while delivering mail on the 5800 block of Vancourt Street in Detroit.

FOX 2 spoke to USPS Postal Inspector, Wylie Christopher, who said this sort of incident is happening more often.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect who robbed a Letter Carrier. 

The suspect is described as a light skinned black male approximately 6 tall, medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans, and a black winter knit hat.

The suspect fled in a white sedan, possible 1990s Chevrolet Lumina with front end damage to the left front fender.
