myFOXDetroit.com Staff - The the anniversary of the September 11th attacks, communities around the nation are remembering emergency workers who paid the ultimate price. On this same weekend, several Royal Oak firefighters are set to lose their jobs.
After 6 years with the department, Darren Duffany will be done on Sunday. He's one of about 10 firefighters who will be laid off.
Duffany says the move goes against the Royal Oak City Charter that sets a minimum number for firefighters and first responders. He says he fears for the people who work and live in the area because it's creating a dangerous situation.
Fox 2's Alexis Wiley spoke with Duffany about the cuts.
