(WJBK) - It's a hobby that doesn't come without its criticism. Child beauty pageants, complete with spray tans, heavy makeup and expensive gowns, have drawn outrage from parents and social groups.
But at the same time, the subject draws over a million viewers per week during TLC's hit show Toddlers & Tiaras .
FOX 2's Andrea Isom recently sat down with a mother and daughter from Armada who have appeared on the show twice to talk about the experience.
Both Tammy Gielniak and her daughter Isabella have been competing in pageants since Bella was 1.
"As a parent, if you didn't think your child was the most beautiful, there might be something wrong with you," said Tammy. "I know it's a controversial hobby. For us it's fun and it's really about the experience as a whole, not whether she comes home with a crown or not."
