DETROIT (WJBK) -- New concerns about Bob Bashara. He's been named a person of interest in his wife's murder. Now, there are questions about his past, including an allegation of molestation.
"There was no truth to it. That's why it never went forward," said Bashara's attorney, David Griem.
He was responding to new revelations about a very old allegation, a case from April of 1995 when Bashara was accused of alleged child molestation.
"At some point in time, there was a falling out between Bob and members of Jane's family, and then after that falling out there were some allegations," Griem explained.
Grosse Pointe Park Police are not commenting on this allegation from way back in 1995. We do know that it was investigated and passed on to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.
"I know that Bob Bashara took two polygraph examinations, two separate police polygraph examinations, and the matter was dropped," Griem told us.
It's the latest in a long list of strange allegations. Bashara's personal life continues to be the stuff of tabloid fodder -- allegations of a mistress, sex slaves and even an S&M dungeon. All of this in addition to being a person of interest in his wife's murder.
However, there are still no charges in the death of Jane Bashara despite an alleged confession from Bob's handyman Joe Gentz, who reportedly said Bob promised $8,000 and a Cadilliac to kill his wife.
"My belief is that there is not sufficiant evidence at this time to bring back a warrant. There's very little evidence over and above Joe," Griem said.
As the investigation continues and police and prosecutors wait on lab results from last week's second search of the Bashara home, Griem cautioned against jumping to conclusions.
"We don't even know if that was blood from the second search. Let's wait and see what it is and then let's go forward," said Griem. "All we're asking is for fair treatment, nothing more, nothing less."
