GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -- Crime scene investigators were searching for clues Wednesday inside the home of murder victim Jane Bashara. Her husband, Bob, was there as investigators arrived at the house in Grosse Pointe Park.
There were reports that there was blood found during the search. Of course, that will have to be sent away and tested to confirm if that's what it was.
"The Grosse Pointe Park Police had announced they had a search warrant, but would not show a search warrant," said attorney David Griem, who represents Bob Bashara.
But search they did. Just before eleven o'clock Wednesday morning, Grosse Pointe Park Police detectives and Michigan State Police executed a search at the Bashara family home.
Crime lab technicians carried out small pieces of potential evidence, including a milk crate filled with manila envelopes.
Sources close to the investigation said they're looking for a paper trail, anything that can prove that Bob Bashara paid for a hit on his wife, Jane. Police told us that could even come in the form of ATM recipts from his wife's account.
It's the second search executed in a week and a half.
Bashara's attorney told us there happened to be an attorney in the family home when police arrived. He said the attorney was not allowed to act on Bashara's behalf, a violation of his client's rights.
"They commanded that he sit down in the family room with Bob and his mother while the search was conducted. He got up one time and walked over to the hallway and was very sternly told to get back and sit down in the family room until they were done with their search," Griem explained.
Half way through the search, Bashara left his house to meet his lawyer, leaving police alone at the house with his mother and lawyer friend.
Griem said his client did the right thing.
"Come on. Give me a break. You've got police at your door. They say they have a search warrant. I don't want my client shot. He did the right thing," he said. "It looks like the prosecutor's office is asking for a do over here by bringing this search warrant here to cover up any mistakes that were made the first time around."
Late Wednesday afternoon, Bashara came back to his house, but this time he pulled into his garage.
Bashara has really been surrounded by his family during the course of this investigation. We are now two weeks to the day that Jane Bashara was found dead. Still no one has been charged.
