DETROIT (WJBK) - Baseball slugger Prince Fielder is making headlines for his apparent deal with the Detroit Tigers and the enormous salary he'll be making.
There are reports he'll make over $23 million dollar a year for the next nine years, making him the fourth highest player in Major League baseball.
According to University Of Detroit Mercy Marketing Professor Dr. Mike Bernancchi, If Fielder hits his average of 40 home runs this year, the Tigers will be paying him $594,444 per home run.
If the Tigers win 95 games again this year, like last year, they would be paying him $250,292 per win. Basically he's getting $45 dollars and change every single minute of every day all year long.
If the Tigers pay his salary out of ticket prices they'd have to raise the average price which last year was $29 and change to about $33 or 13 percent.
But there are other ways of generating revenue such as raising food prices, parking, program and merchandise prices.
