Canton Couple Plans to Walk to Las Vegas for Their Wedding

(WJBK) - Meet Joseph Crist and Laura Brunett. Both are 24 years old. Both are from Canton. And both plan to walk over 2,500 miles beforing marrying at Lake Mead this Fall.

The engaged couple tells FOX 2's Jason Carr they plan to walk around 15 miles a day across the fruited plain, over the Rockies and through the desert beginning April 15. Their goal is to reach Las Vegas by September and then walk to their wedding at Lake Meade.

"I like unique people and he's pretty unique," said Brunett, who's known Crist since they were in middle school.

"I saw someone who would make a great mother," said Crist. "She would take care of my kids and hold me accountable to being a good father."

The loving couple termed their trip as "creative marriage counseling."

After the wedding, the newlyweds plan to continue on to Los Anglese where they'll ponder a honeymoon in Hawaii, where a plane would be needed.
