DETROIT - Congressman John Conyers reacted Tuesday to FOX 2's recent report of his son driving his government issued vehicle. The SUV was packed with tens of thousands of dollars worth of items.

Congressman Conyers' Cadillac Escalade was broken into and computers and concert tickets stolen from inside. The question now is what was his son doing driving his government vehicle?

Months ago, John Conyers III escorted his mother, Monica, into federal court for sentencing for her role in the Synagro scandal and other crimes. Now, 20-year-old Conyers III is at the center of his own scandal, and his father, Congressman John Conyers, Junior is feeling the heat, as well.

According to a police report, the night before Thanksgiving Conyers III parked his father's Escalade downtown only to find it had been broken into when he returned. He reported two laptops and $27,000 worth of concert tickets stolen from inside the Escalade, and Conyers III should not have been driving it.

Conyers III did not answer the door of their Detroit home on Tuesday. His father, back in Washington D.C., released the following statement.

"I have just learned about the inappropriate use of a congressional vehicle by my son over the Thanksgiving holiday. I am sorry it happened and will make sure that it does not happen again. I will review the full circumstances of the use of this vehicle and make restitution to the Treasury for any non-official use."

To whom the stolen laptops belong was not addressed by the congressman.
