DETROIT - A Detroit business owner says his shop has been robbed far too many times. He's called police, but says they were not much help. The thugs broke into his lot and stole all of his parts, setting the company back by more than $30,000.
"I am willing to buy my own stolen parts back. I know the cops are not going to do anything for me, and nobody's going to do anything for me," said Mike Mushienesh.
He says his family moved its manufacturing company from Dearborn to Detroit about five years ago. They've got 30 employees and are even expanding, but there's one thing that's making them want to close up shop.
"Every four (or) five months, we'll have an incident would it be arson, would it be robbery," Mushienesh said.
What's even worse is he feels like he can't depend on Detroit Police to respond when there's a problem.
"The alarm would go off and there's no response, maybe 45 minutes (or) an hour later, while the criminal is doing his bidding in here," said Mushienesh.
We took the family's complaint straight to Detroit Police. A spokesperson says police have responded to the business' calls and they even responded to a few false alarms, but the department is willing to work with businesses like Mushienesh's to handle their security concerns.
"We won't be calling for anything that's not important. We expect to be responded (to) in a timely manner," Mushienesh said.
