Detroit Lions Players Pose for Charity Pet Calendar

DETROIT - A dog may be man’s best friend, but the Lions are the Dearborn Animal Shelter’s best friends.

For Don Muhlbach and his wife, it’s a labor of love as they chip in for an eighth straight year to raise money through the annual pet calendar.

’Good to be here and support a cause, and they can’t speak up for themselves, so someone else has to do it,’ said Muhlbach.

Louis Delmas, Drew Stanton, Nick Harris and a handful of other players came to support the cause, including newcomer Shaun Hill, who considers his two dogs to be part of the family.

’I’m married with dogs. They’re part of the family, for sure,’ he said.

Most of the time, they say that pets take on the personalities of their owners. So, we were curious to know from some of the players what characteristic their dog has that is most like them.

’Leo, he’s like me. He’s lazy and fat,’ said Stanton.

Delmas said the bull mastiff he has at home fits his personality, but he quickly bonded with the two bull terriers he’ll be seen with on this year’s cover.
