DETROIT (WJBK) - "I don't want her on the medication. I want her back now," said Maryanne Godboldo.
She went before a judge Friday morning fighting for the right to see her daughter. The judge said he will address the issue next week.
When Child Protective Services came to take the 13-year-old last Friday, police say Godboldo got out a gun and barricaded herself and the child in a Detroit home for ten hours.
She now faces numerous charges and is accused of assaulting and shooting at police.
This mom's attorney says CPS took her little girl because she refused to give her daughter a drug called risperdal.
"It has severe side effects, and it's making her ill," attorney Wanda Evans told FOX 2.
She also says CPS violated her client's rights when they took her daughter in order to medicate her.
"Our concern is that the agency does not provide medication to this child without the consent of the parents or any court order," Evans explained.
Child Protective Services' workers had no comment on the case.
A rally in support of Godboldo is scheduled for Saturday at the Hartford Memorial Baptist Church. Rally organizers hope to raise money for her legal battle.
"I am very anxious to get my daughter back. She's been away from me too long," Godboldo said.
