DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) - Yet another woman reports being raped on Detroit's east side, but this time police do not believe it's the serial rapist they've been looking for. The manhunt for the serial rape suspect continues. Women are being urged not to walk alone in the city at night.

The most recent attack took place around 4:30am Saturday. A 19-year-old girl says a man broke into her apartment and raped her near Drexel and Charlevoix. Police are making it clear they do not believe this rape is the work of the serial rapist, suspected of attacking 7 women on Detroit's northeast and east side since Jan. 1. But, the rape occured in the same area where other women have reported sexual assaults in rencent days. Sources tell Fox 2 investigators were able to collect DNA from the victim that could lead straight to the person responsible for attacking the 19-year-old girl.
A sketch with a description of the serial rape suspect is being posted around the city. He's believed to be in his late thirties, 5'9" with a thin build. He's believed to be carrying a gun and driving a dark colored car. Police say he attacks young women walking alone or wating for busses. DDOT is now picking up riders at several police precincts so they can wait someplace safe. Some victims were either getting off of a bus or waiting for one.
