DETROIT (WJBK) - The city of Detroit and its suburbs spent an evening in the spotlight Monday during an episode of Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods America .

Host Andrew Zimmern trekked around the city in search of tasty eats that you might not think of as traditional fare.

The episode began with soul food tour through Detroit, featuring a highlight of Zimmern's trip - dessert at My Sisters & Me. The show then spent a day at the park with the Detroit Mower Gang , a group of friends dedicated to cleaning up the city's public parks.

From there, it was on to Dearborn and Hamtramck as Zimmern sampled cuisine from the middle east during a Ramadan celebration; explored the tastes of eastern Europre; and even attempted to polish off a ghost pepper pizza with influence from Bangladesh.

The episode wasn't the first time the Travel Channel has shot in the Motor City. Host Anthony Bourdain brought his "No Reservations" show to Detroit in 2009.
