Driver, 32, Shot in Southwest Detroit

DETROIT - Police are searching for a van involved in a hit and run accident and a shooting on Detroit's southwest side. One man was shot and injured in this apparent case of road rage.

A blown out, driver's side window in a silver Dodge Nitro up on a lawn. This is the aftermath of the wild shooting at Gilbert and McGraw that left a 32-year-old man with several gunshot wounds in his arms and body.

"I (heard)... six shots," said witness Larry Hall. "I don't know who shot who."

Hall, who lives nearby, was walking his dog when the shots rang out.

The driver who was injured tells police it all started when he was rear ended by a van. The driver of that van apparently got out cursing and opened fire.

The victim, who was close to home, was rushed to the hospital by his wife.

We're told police are looking for a late model Pontiac minivan. The colors are blue over tan, and at the time of the shooting, there were two people inside.

Sadly, Hall told us he's not surprised by the midday shooting and that anything goes in this rough neighborhood. In the 30 years he's lived there, he says he's been the victim of violence several times.

"I've been shot at. I had a car running through the house, and I've been... help up by four people in front of the house," Hall said.

Police were on the scene collecting evidence as they try to track down the shooter.
