The Problem Solvers go to work. A three-year-old husky desperately needs medical care. His life depends on it. That's where you come in either with donations or with a home for this rescued pet.
A husky's swollen leg is a sad sign of the economic times. The cause is unknown.
"We did take him to the vet, and the vet felt it and said he never felt anything quite like it," said Mindy Storen.
His name is Tek. His former owners, broke and out of work, had to give him up.
"It could be cancer," Storen said. "Because it's so swollen, it could be a tumor that's blocking his lymph glands."
Storen runs the nonprofit Closer to Home Animal Advocates. She rescued Tek. She has a vet to help him, but needs donations to pay for Tek's amputation.
"His surgery's going to run between a thousand and $1,500 and his leg has to be removed," said Storen.
If surgery is successful, Tek will need a loving home.
We asked Storen about three legged dogs and their continued mobility. She said, "They do fine with three legs, especially on the back leg. He's going to have a lot of freedom once that leg is gone."
If you want to help Tek, visit the Closer to Home Animal Advocates website at www.cthaa.org. There you can make a donation or contact them know if you would like to provide services.
